Alex Clouser- Forming an Opportunity Belief Assignment 4

  1. I believe that an opportunity exists in the automobile industry.
  2. My idea is that there should be a way for a car to automatically analyze the speed others around you are going and adjust the speed of your own car automatically, even when you are pulling out of somewhere into moving traffic, it should be able to tell you if it is safe to pull out of not judging off of how fast the oncoming car is going and the distance that it is to your car.
  3. The prototypical customer is anyone who can drive and afford to have a car.
  4. My first interview was with my roommate. He believed that it was a great idea to have this in a car because he said that he always struggles with judging the speed other cars are going from a distance and many times ends up pulling out in front of people and angering them because he impedes their pace. He thought that this idea was really good and would be very helpful to many consumers, just based off of his own personal experience and the other drivers that he sees on the road. He said that he has had this problem since he first started driving when he was 16 and that he currently has no solution to it, other than to wait until no one is coming to pull out, although that solution doesn't work as efficiently as he would like because sometimes it causes him to be late waiting for traffic to stop.
  5. My second interview was with a girl in one of my other classes. She thought that this idea was very helpful and said that she would want it in her car. She did bring up some issues with the idea, such as that a version of it already exists in the form of brake assist in newer cars. Although she believes that the already existing technology can be adapted to accommodate this new opportunity.
  6. My third interview was with a cashier at Lucky's. She said that she thought my opportunity was very interesting and would help the transition of cars from just vehicles that are only as good as the drivers behind the wheel to a much safer means of transportation by not relying on human input to function properly and avoid accidents.
  7. Reflection: Overall, I learned that my opportunity could be possible through the adaption of already existing technology found in cars and that paired with these already existing features, it would revolutionize the safety of cars. I also learned that many people were supportive of this idea and thought that it would be a good thing to have in their own cars.
  8. Summary: I believe that most of my career opportunity is still there from when it started. I do think that it is currently more accurate than when I started because it now includes working with already existing technology instead of being a stand-alone feature in a car. I believe that entrepreneurs should adapt their opportunities to customer feedback and give the consumer what they want, while still keeping the essence and base of the original product because that is what drew people to the opportunity in the first place and you would not want to lose consumers because the product is completely different and no longer what it first was, especially not in a very short amount of time.

  1. I believe that any idea that encourages the safety of driving is a great idea, as there has been many issues regarding the safety of cars. in which, I agree that this opportunity exists and that it is a great idea. I am curious and engaged to see your idea evolve, as it is important to note the adaptability needed to be taken place upon the existing technology of cars that is now advancing today.

  2. I definitely like the idea. I don't know if it has a strong demand for it, but that might just be biased based on where I'm from. In Miami many people think they are great drivers, or like to go around people they view as driving to slow. But like I said, might just be my biased. I like the semi self driving aspect of it as well. Especially because many people are skeptical still of fully auto self driving cars. Serves as a good transition to that.

  3. This is a great idea and I'll state why. Any idea handling automobiles is already a great place to start for a business, especially when it comes to safety. Consumers themselves would not personally buy it themselves, but certainly big car companies would want a car with its own safety protocols. Big car companies have an image to uphold and if there are a number of accidents related to their name, it ruins business, so this, in my opinion, would be a highly demanded investment for car companies.

  4. Hi Alexander,

I think this idea would be super helpful. I also have a problem with misjudging how fast cars are driving by when I am pulling out. I use my back up camera, but the view is a little hard to tell if the car is nearby or far. I have not tested a brake assist before, so I wonder what that is like.
